    What computer do you use?

    Hello Superai

You don't need a super computer to run Ableton really especially if you run a 32bit version of ableton and plugins then things like RAM wont matter too much unless your below 4gb. Its a different story though when running 64bit as it will open up the use of more RAM which does help when running multiple vsts etc.
My computer is not very super but does a top job for me as its optimised to suite my style of writing . Ive not gone mad as i too am on a budget. I will say this though, my best upgrade was getting a few Samsung 850 Evo's SSD drives to house my big sound library's and to run Ableton from, this took immense pressure on my HDD as it was struggling to read so many audio files. oh and also my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface is still doing me proud and still taking the pressure of my PC :)

Also this video was good for optimising Windows 10 for audio production - support.focusrite.com/hc/en-gb/articles/...-Audio-on-Windows-10

    I run a PC on Windows 10, with Intel i7, 16gb RAM,
64 bit operating system with 64bit Ableton live 9
    x2 1tb Samsung 850 Evo SSD drives.
    Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface.

I hope this helps a bit, have a wonderful Christmas :)

    Hey all,

Cold and foggy day here in the UK, so no better way to cheer ones self up than to produce some music, here is an electronic track kinda inspired by the great John Carpenter.
    Enjoy :)

    Feedback Request

    Hi and welcome.

I really like this, it has bags of atmosphere and actually really good for a first try.
For me the only feedback i would offer mix wise is that it gets a bit murky around your bass and drums, you may want to clear some of that out, give your drums a bit much presence too. You can apply some sidechain to the bass to duck it out of the way when the kick comes in, adding saturation to a bass gives it a little colour which helps also when separating it from the kick. Also do some subtractive EQ and make decisions about what is more important in you track and what you want to highlight and stand out.

    Nice track though ;)

    New Track: K37 - Skywards

Cheers for your feedback Luc, Yeah i guess i can hear why the vocal would get a bit repetitive, I actually don't mind it maybe because I'm used to hearing it lol.
Yeah i would love to get someone actually singing over a track like this, I'm very fussy when it comes to the sound and feel of a vocal though. I do get requests on facebook from vocalists wanting to apply vocals but when hearing their work they more often than not don't sound like they would fit the track.

    Thanks again bud :)

    New track - K37 - Cyber City

    Hi All

Been a while since i posted a track link here, so i though i would share my latest track, This one was inspired by the Cyber Punkish worlds of Deus Ex, Ghost In A Shell and Cyber City OEDO 808. I was working with some plucks and some electric guitar using Impact Soundworks library 'Shreddage' which was a lot of fun.

    K37 - Cyber City

Any way i hope you enjoy the track, please leave your feedback and share if you like it of course :)

    Cheers.

Getting a bit dazed and confused

Yeah Berni is right you both should be exploring Ableton like he said you can not break it. You will learn so much by just play around and creating 10 mins worth of noise, keep a note pad handy in case you need to write anything down and then off you go again. By all means watch Youtube tutorials if it helps you get around ableton a bit easier Toms videos do help but they ain't no set rule to how you use ableton and how you can use ableton to craft your own personal sound.
You want your own sound if you follow all of Toms video's your just going to sound like Tom Cosm lol (Which ain't a bad thing) its just already been done...especially here lol.

Once you start learning your way around ableton and its devices and sounds you will then start making music no problems...but i highly recommend finding your own way of doing so.

As for the videos, after you watch the introduction vids i would personally jump on the sound design videos, they will show you most of abletons instruments and audio devices and great ways of using them etc.

    Good luck and have fun.
