Hello all,

I'd like to tap out a basic drum beat (kick, snare) using my macbook pro keyboard. But whenever I try, I cannot get both the kick and the snare .. I only get one or the other. I'm sure there is a simple way to "map" both kick and snare to my keyboard, I just need a bit of direction.

Thanks!

Hey Fojomo, the best bet would be to use a Drum rack in a MIDI track with the samples you want, then MIDI arm the track and turn on the Virtual Keyboard.

Here's a pic, if put a red box around the MIDI arm and the Virtual Keyboard button.

I've loaded a kick onto C1 and D1 of the drum rack... which means that the "A" and "S" keys on my Macbook trigger these. You might find that the virtual keyboard is an octave or two too high or too low.. so you may need to push Z to go down an octave, or X to go up an octave, until those keys are in the right range.

Let me know how it goes on.

Thank you for the tip! It's working out great. I just have to get used to figuring out which key corresponds to which square on the drum rack. But I'm getting the hang of it.
