Forum Information

Dear users, I have decided to phase out the posting on the forums on this website and move any discussions over to this private facebook group. While the forums were great 10 years ago, they are now difficult to maintain due to constant spam. I spend most of my time just cleaning them up, rather than interacting. This, combined with finding it difficult to directly communicate with other users through several different social media platforms, I have decided to consolodate it all to one group where people can chat with me, ask questions and jibber jabber with other users on a regular basis. I will not make the forums offline as there is a wealth of content, but posting has now been disabled. Thanks to all those who have contributed over the years, and I'll see you over on the Facebook group! -Tom

Has anyone picked up the new ableton push 2? how does it feel (particularly the pads) in comparison to it's predecessor?

Hey, I have and I love it! The pads are much more responsive. They feel harder, and I wouldn't think that would be good... but it really is. The whole thing is a bit lighter, and it's a breeze to touch. I used it in my first live show this weekend and it was mad fun... a huge improvement over the Push 1 in my opinion.

I am thinking to start djing. Because i don't have enough my tracks to play live, but i want to go into this ASAP :woohoo:
The question is:
Is ableton push 2 is good for djing or not? what do you think? It seems it is, however i am not sure.
Because if it is suitable for djing, after all i can use it with live performance too (i hope :D) and it will be a good purchase.
Or do you think it is better to buy dj decks and perform with them?

thanks all!

Sorry for the delay, I've been busy with my Push 2!!! hahaha. Agreed! I just picked one up after selling my Push 1. WOW! what a difference. exponential difference. It's funny they made a great product without the hardware partner (AKAI) from push 1. The flow of the buttons on the controller really help production. I'm totally enjoying it.

I don't know if you are a pro member or not but check out the megaset:

great foundation for using ableton as a DJ platform. Tom provides a layout that is pretty neat. This is definitely one way to do it. I don't currently use ableton to DJ so I wouldn't know to much about that, maybe someone else can chime in and help you out there.

I use the Push (2) for production and it's been great thus far. A lot of great stuff on the web to help you with this.
