Forum Information

Dear users, I have decided to phase out the posting on the forums on this website and move any discussions over to this private facebook group. While the forums were great 10 years ago, they are now difficult to maintain due to constant spam. I spend most of my time just cleaning them up, rather than interacting. This, combined with finding it difficult to directly communicate with other users through several different social media platforms, I have decided to consolodate it all to one group where people can chat with me, ask questions and jibber jabber with other users on a regular basis. I will not make the forums offline as there is a wealth of content, but posting has now been disabled. Thanks to all those who have contributed over the years, and I'll see you over on the Facebook group! -Tom

Hey everyone,

Newbie here and I do voice over production. Just graduated from Garage band to Live9 and I'm just getting started. Anyway, I dragged a perfectly fine mp3 file into Live9 (that a colleague recorded using some other program off site).

Here is my problem. When I play the voice over recording in preview mode (the box that says "Raw" bottom left) .. it sounds great. But when I drag it over to a track and play it back .. it sounds really rough.

Any ideas on why this is happening? Are there any tools I can use to make it sound normal (like it does when I play it in preview mode?)

Thanks!

It may be that you have warping on for large files, you may want to turn this off in your preference settings or simply turn warping off in the clips sample area in the bottom left hand corner of the screen.
Also in this area is you will see a drop down box with the word 'Beats' in it, ableton will automatically read your file using this algorithm which is mainly for audio drum loops etc, for voice or vocal files i would recommend changing 'Beats' mode to 'Complex' or 'Complex Pro' mode, it should sound a lot better than it currently does :)
